Walk to Tarn Hows
Yewfield is situated just a short distance from Tarn Hows, a popular destination managed by the National Trust.
Partially man-made, three separate tarns were 'joined' during the 19th Century to form a single tarn surrounded by a circular path and rich woodland. With views across to the Coniston and Langdale fells, the relatively flat path around the tarns is suitable for all.
A short walk from Yewfield through open fell and woodland gives the opportunity to see local Herdwick sheep, red squirrels and stunning views throughout the year.
The images above trace the walk from Yewfield to Tarn Hows through the Spring and Autumn seasons when the colours are at their strongest.
The paths to Tarn Hows are easy to follow and well signposted, however we recommend you wear sturdy footwear as certain sections may be uneven. Please contact us for more information.
