The Linton Duo brings together British violinist Philippa Mo and Hong Kong-born pianist Albert Lau. Since their first concert in 2023 at the Georgian Theatre Royal in Richmond, England’s oldest surviving theatre in its original form, the two exceptional musicians have performed internationally as a duo, combining virtuosic flair with great musical sensitivity and a passion for an extensive repertoire. Their vision is to inspire audiences with great chamber music works as well as rarities through creative and imaginative programme design.
Philippa Mo studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London and the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing. An internationally sought-after chamber musician, she has performed at venues including London’s Wigmore Hall and the Lincoln Center in New York, as well as at international festivals across Europe and Asia. A passionate advocate of contemporary music, she has given the world premieres of numerous works by British composers. In 2015, she was appointed an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music (ARAM). She plays a violin by Julius Cesare Gigli, dating from 1786.
Albert Lau is a Steinway Artist and studied with Emile Naoumoff at Indiana University and with Joanna MacGregor at the Royal Academy of Music in London. As a soloist and chamber musician, he has performed throughout Europe, Asia and the United States. The Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger praised Lau’s performances ‘with great intellectual understanding’ and ‘glorious expanses of sound’. He was appointed a Steinway Artist in 2022.
